Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Spring Hill, Florida, is a Chapter of the Greek Ladies National Philoptochos Society headquartered in New York City, NY. A decision of the General Assembly of Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church held on November 14, 2004, authorized the establishment of a women’s organization for Christ the Savior Church. A meeting was held after the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, November 21, 2004. It was decided to call the organization by the name of “Ladies Society”. Several Saint names were then proposed and the majority of the ladies present voted for the name of Saint Katherine. It was then established that the organization would be called the St Katherine Ladies Society of Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church, which became our Philoptochos
Chapter. The Church observes the Feast Day of St. Katherine annually on November 25th . It was decided that annual Feast Day of the St Katherine’s Philoptochos Chapter would be observed each year on the Sunday before November 25th. The mission of the Philoptochos is to promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach and promote our Orthodox Christian faith and traditions in accordance with its doctrines and customs.
